Havasupai Hualapai Hilltop

From YouTube member oasisguides: Video taken just as we climbed up the canyon face back to our car. Lots of activity up here. Indians preparing mule trains, trucks dropping off provisions, feed. Helicopter, too, comes here to Hualapai Hilltop to drop off passengers.



The trail to Supai and Havasupai begins at Hualapai Hilltop, 191 miles/308 km from Grand Canyon Village or 66 miles/106 km from Peach Springs, Arizona. Peach Springs has the nearest services including: gas, food, and water. No services are available at Hualapai Hilltop.

Havasupai Helicopter Rescue

On September 30, 2007 Erika from Phoenix, Arizona broke her right leg in 3 places down at Havasupai deep inside the Grand Canyon. This is dramatic footage of this dangerous rescue of an injured person.



The best way to reach Havasupai is from Highway 66, six miles east of Peach Springs, Arizona onto Indian Route 18, a 64 mile road to Hualapai Hilltop. From the Hilltop parking lot there is an eight mile trail down to Supai Village. This trail may be traveled either by foot or horse.

Peach Springs Arizona

Peach Springs, Arizona is a census-designated place in Mohave County, Arizona, United States. The population was 600 at the 2000 census. Peach Springs serves as the administrative headquarters of the Hualapai (meaning People of the Tall Pine) people, and is located on the Hualapai Reservation.

Peach Springs is located at 35°32′4″N, 113°25′24″W (35.534457, -113.423353.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 17.8 km (6.9 mi), all land.

Peach Springs has one lodge, the Hualapai Lodge, and a small grocery market, but no gas station. It is the nearest town to Hualapai Hilltop, which is the trailhead from which hikers descend the 8 mile (13 km), 3,000 vertical foot (900 metre) trail to the town of Supai, Arizona, from which the renowned Havasu Falls and three other waterfalls can be visited.

Grand Canyon Skywalk Hours - Winter hours of operation are 8 am to 4:30pm, as the daylight extends we will expand our hours. The summer hours effective May 1st will be 8 am to 6 pm

Private Vehicle Information at Grand Canyon West

No private vehicles are permitted within the Grand Canyon West area. A Hop on Hop off shuttle system operates through the view points through out the day.

Park and Ride options: There is a 14 mile unpaved portion of the road leading to Grand Canyon West for a nominal fee you can leave the driving to us! You can park at the Grand Canyon West Welcome center and go by motor coach into the Grand Canyon. Reservations are required (702) 260-6506.

Important Grand Canyon Skywalk Visitor Information

Expect possible construction delays crossing Hoover Dam.
Be prepared for a 14 mile stretch of dirt road getting to the visitor center.
Avoid taking a vehicle that is low to the ground or has any loose parts on the road.
You cannot drive your own car past the visitor center.
Arrive early to beat the long lines of people waiting to buy tickets.
A bus will take you from the visitor center to the skywalk. The distance is about 3 miles.
Bring lots of water - at this time little or no water is available for tourist .
Be prepared for 30 minutes or longer waits to walk the skywalk.
No cameras, purses ect. are allowed on the skywalk. They must be checked in with security.
The skywalk is over a side canyon of the Grand Canyon - Main canyon and Colorado River is viewable in the distance.

Buses may run infrequently. Be prepared for waits and long lines for buses.
Bring lots of sunscreen.
Bring hand sanitizers and (wipes or toilet paper) for after restrooms use and for use before eating and the long drive to and from the attraction. Online reviews are reporting nowhere to wash your hands after portable toilet use.
A photographer will take a picture of your group on the skywalk (a fee is charge for Grand Canyon Skywalk pictures).
Danger - There are no railings or other barriers on the canyon edge.
